With each passing Women’s Day, I feel more unnoticed. Is it just me? Am I getting old? Or are we simply not celebrating Women’s Day the way we used to?
I mean, this was the one day in the entire year dedicated to us—a full 24 hours of appreciation—and I’m certainly not ready to let go of it! Since it fell on a Saturday this year, at least the universe was on our side. 😆
Women’s Day used to excite me more than my birthday! Not everyone on the street may know when my birthday is (by the way, it’s May 31st 😉), but what they do know is that I’m a woman. And in my mind, I imagined people being in awe of us on this day. But when I stepped out yesterday, there were no banners, no greetings, no extra warmth from shopkeepers. Nothing.
So, is Women’s Day losing its significance? Or is International Men’s Day catching up faster than expected? 😅
On the flip side, I did notice brands capitalizing on this day more than ever, throwing discounts and special offers our way. But honestly, I don’t see the point. Women’s Day should be about empowerment, and as an empowered woman, I can buy whatever I want—without needing a discount. What I do want, however, is good customer service all year round. Now that would make for a truly impactful Women’s Day campaign.
Anyway, how was your Women’s Day? Did it feel different to you too?
