Actions speak louder than words
The other evening, my husband and I were out walking our dog, Luna. She’s an indie we adopted a year ago, and she just turned one - she's really naughty, like crazy naughty.
We take Luna for her daily walks on the same path. Yet, every time, she’s full of boundless excitement—sniffing everything, pulling at her leash, and behaving as if it’s her very first time exploring that route.
Last week, I said to my husband, "I don’t understand. She walks the same path every day, but she’s still so excited every single time", to which he replied, "She’s also been eating the same food four times a day for the past one year, and she’s just as excited about it as she was on day one. And then it struck me. She does NOT taking anything for granted. That little thing is full of joy and appreciation for every thing - small or big, a repetitive routine, or something new. And I was just left smiling.
We are always told to be grateful about what we have and be thankful for it and here this little thing is practicing it unknowingly. Luna reminded me of the beauty in simple, everyday joys :) I may have only taught her one command in 1 year - Sit but she surely taught me a beautiful lesson.
