Why Thrift?

The fashion industry uses a lot of water to manufacture clothes, and the amount is expected to double by 2030:

Water usage per item

The amount of water used to make a piece of clothing depends on the type of clothing:

  • T-shirt: 2,700 liters

  • Jeans: 7,250 liters

  • Hoodie or sweatshirt: 3,350 liters

  • Pants or boxers: 850 liters

  • Bra: 550 liters

  • Socks: 375 liters

Water usage overall

The fashion industry uses around 93 billion cubic meters of water per year, this is equivalent to 37 million Olympic swimming pools.

All of us can make a change and this is our chance, to finally be able to make a positive impact, to act as a citizen of the Earth.
